What We’re Looking For in a Cloud Native Engineer and Trainer:

We are a training and consulting organisation, and seek a consultant engineer that believes in helping people on their cloud native security journey. The role would suit an experienced engineer that wants to stay hands-on with clients whilst training and sharing their experience with others, and contributing back to the community.

Our trainers and consultants represent the technical and cultural values of ControlPlane, leading our customers by example in the complex and fast-changing world of cloud native technology.

You will perform a mix of training and client consulting, working on internal training projects, and contributing to Open Source projects on ControlPlane’s behalf. We offer fully remote positions, and when offices re-open, you may be offered work on client sites: this is optional and we aim to be entirely flexible to your needs. As a leader in the cloud native community there are opportunities for international travel.

Technologies and skills:

  • Intrinsic motivation to help learners and colleagues grow their skills
  • Kubernetes and container expertise (including some of kubeadm, GKE and EKS, kind/k3s, Docker, podman, gVisor, Firecracker)
  • GCP and AWS, using Terraform
  • Good DevOps and backend software engineering experience
    • Bash, Python, Golang, or equivalent scripting skills
    • Assiduous CI/CD automator to support our test-driven training workflow
    • Cloud security awareness and a desire to build hardened systems
  • We adopt and secure new technologies: service mesh, in-toto, and Grafeas experience a plus
  • CKS/CKA/CKAD or similar a plus
