Who is ControlPlane?

We are a London based cloud technology company, helping to keep people safe online. We work with cloud providers and their customers to secure the building blocks of the internet, by offering consulting, training and products related to cloud native development, security and operations.

ControlPlane’s priority is to continue to be a leader in the Kubernetes and Cloud DevSecOps space. We secure the next generation of software systems and provide a clear, risk-based adoption guide for organisations looking to implement best practices.

Trusted by Google Cloud, UK Home Office, JPMC, among many others, our clients are world leading organisations.

What are we looking for in a Scrum Master?

We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and ambitious Scrum Master to work closely with our clients and aid them on the Agile transformation journey. You will gain exposure across the business by partnering with the Control Plane team to ensure our customers’ projects succeed.

Our Scrum Master will have at least 3 years of experience in a similar role. You will also have small business or start-up experience in a tech company, and be comfortable performing a variety of duties with tech savviness being a must. We work on London time and have employees based in Europe and North America. The position provides an exciting and extensive opportunity for a driven and enthusiastic individual to grow with the business’s success.

This is a unique job role within a successful start-up company where you will have the chance to make a positive impact, learn, grow and work with great colleagues who consistently challenge the status quo.

This is a remote position, although we invite you to spend time in person at our London office: this is optional and we aim to be entirely flexible to your needs. You may be expected to work on client sites as required. As a leader in the cloud native community there are opportunities for international travel.

Roles, responsibilities and requirements:

  • Foster Agile ways of working
  • Lead the team in best practices and ceremonies, and coach the teams on how to use Agile to help drive their deliveries
  • Manage project effort and track timings, resources, and individual workloads
  • Support the Head of Agile with requirements gathering, epic scoping, status and risk reporting, and documentation creation
  • Improve current workflows, create project transparency and sync with the Engineering team for regular updates
  • Help manage and organise our JIRA and related systems
  • Managing reporting to our clients and internally

Our Scrum Master will have these preferred or specific skills:

  • Qualified Scrum Master with 3+ years of experience
  • Passion for being a focussed team player and a ‘“can do” attitude
  • Strong organisational, planning, multi-tasking and time management skills
  • Proactive problem solving ability with exceptional communication skills – excellent English language skills at a native or fluent level
  • Extensive knowledge of project management methodologies, Agile approaches, Kanban and Scrum
  • Experience of having worked in R&D and having managed multiple Agile teams
  • Experience of JIRA, Confluence and any other Project Management tools
  • Experience of having worked with change management and team transformations
  • Experience analysing general technical documentation, developing internal processes, and cataloging information
  • Pride in technology use - early adoption of new technologies, excellent grasp of Google Workspace (GSuite) applications, MS Office Suite and other office productivity tools, and aptitude for learning new software and systems
  • Ability to act with total discretion and diplomacy and show sound judgment in responding to complex circumstances
  • Enthusiasm, consummate professionalism, and excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to keep the team’s delivery as a top priority and to be flexible in order to facilitate success of the team

ControlPlane is a dynamic, cutting edge and passionate business for which to work. Our employees are the heart of our business, which means we care about our company culture and our employees’ wellbeing and progression. Alongside this, as our colleague you will have the following benefits:

  • Generous and competitive salary
  • Discretionary bonus
  • 33 days of paid holiday, including paid leave for the standard 8 UK Bank Holidays
  • Statutory pension contribution
  • An individual training budget for personal development, including but not limited to:
    • Conferences
    • Training (books, courses, coaching, as well as internal training which is of course included beyond budget)
    • Qualifications
  • Individual development time:
    • 10 days for training
    • 7.5 days to attend and present at conferences
    • 10 days company research and development time

We believe our peers are equally as important as the technology we use. We’re looking for people of the highest personal calibre, quietly confident, with a good work ethic, keenness to learn, emotional maturity and respect, who know that “we” is more than “me”, and who embrace human diversity of all kinds. As we grow you will help us to build a company culture of which we can all be proud. If you espouse these values, we want you!
